The sample of the learner course work showed excellent examples of wider reading and research which had been effectively applied to the assignments. The learners had related the assignments to their own teaching practice and subject areas. Part of the external quality assurance sampling also included interviews with some of the learners who expressed how very pleased they were with the excellent support and guidance from the centre. The Head of Centre is to be commended on the high standard of the teaching programme.
To ensure effective learning, all trainers/assessors need the following skills as a minimum:
- understanding and use of initial, formative and summative assessment
- planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning
- creating and maintaing a safe, inclusive teaching and learning enviroment
Our training courses will deliver these skills and much, much more.
Our programmes are blended learning which consists of a number of workshops which you must attend along with self research and the use of our VLE – Virtual Learning Environment. We do not deliver entirely distance learning, as the City & Guilds qualification specifications state: “Distance learning is unlikely to provide opportunities for modelling of techniques and interaction with other candidates.” We feel our blended programme delivers the best, high quality teacher learning possible.
This programme comprises face-to-face training workshops, workplace observation, individual research, distance learning and the completion of 14 assignments. Over 13 months you will attend 13 monthly training days. These are highly interactive, face-to-face sessions. They are built around key themes that address the course content, prompt reflective practice and provide an opportunity to share good practice with others. Individual support and distance learning is built into the programme. The course is assessed by 14 assignments, ongoing reflective journals and a teaching practice portfolio. You will have to evidence 100 hours of teaching and will be observed 8 times..

- Valuable continuing professional development (CPD) that builds confidence and enhances your skills
- QTLS status is recognised in law as equal to QTS for teaching in schools
- Members with QTLS can use the initials as a designation and display a QTLS digital pin on their online profiles.
