The L3 Award in Education and Training is the new updated qualification which replaced PTLLS on 1st September 2013, it is not a full teaching qualification – it is an introduction to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching/training sessions and how to assess and give constructive and developmental feedback. You will need to complete all units to achieve the award. For our open programme we have chosen to cover the following units:
Unit 301 Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
Unit 302 Understanding and using inclusive approaches in education and training
Unit 305 Understanding assessment in education and training
''the *AET* handbook is great. As usual, this is of a high standard and I really like the integrated assignment idea.''
As part of your course fee you will receive a copy of the definitive textbook “The Award in Education and Training” by Ann Gravells, published by Learning Matters – Sage Publications Ltd.
The Award is the first introductory qualification currently recommended for teachers, trainers and assessors who work in the education and training sector, particularly those new into or wish to get into teaching – they may then go on, if required, to undertake either the Certificate or Diploma qualifications.
The three units above will qualify you with a better understanding of:
- planning and delivering a teaching session
- the role of the tutor
- the training cycle
- meeting individual learner needs
- teaching and learning methods
- evaluation strategies
